RENO, Nev. – Parker McLachlin tied the course record with a 62 Friday and took the second-round lead into the clubhouse at 14-under par at the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open, while Michelle Wie tried to become the first woman since Babe Zaharias in 1945 to make the cut on the PGA Tour.
Wie, who shot a 1-over 73 on Thursday, had two bogeys and one birdie through her first nine holes on Friday and was 2-over par for the tournament with several holes still to play and the cut line hovering around even par at Montreux Golf & Country Club.
McLachlin, 29, who has five Top 25 finishes this year and ranks 98th on the tour money list, birdied seven of the last 10 holes and had 11 on the day.
